Access to this database is for AUTHORIZED users only. You are responsible for log-on and no one else should access your terminal. User IDs and passwords are NOT to be shared. Sharing of passwords will result in a permanent revocation of your privilege to access and view driver or vehicle records.

By accessing or viewing any motor vehicle record, you are certifying that you are engaging in a "permitted use" under the federal Driver's Privacy Protection Act of 1994 (18 U.S.C. §§ 2721-2725) and Iowa Code section 321.11. Under the Privacy Act Agreement completed with the Iowa Department of Transportation ("DOT"), redisclosure of personal information from motor vehicle records is restricted. If you share a motor vehicle record with or provide a motor vehicle record to someone else, it must be for a "permitted use," and you must maintain a record of the redisclosure for five years. You must make those records available to the DOT upon request. Your record must satisfy the requirements of 18 U.S.C. § 2721(c), which means that the record must (1) identify each person or entity that receives the information and (2) identify the permitted purpose for which the information will be used.

Non-compliance with any provisions of state or federal laws will result in the DOT's denial of your access to driver or vehicle records. Any unauthorized or improper use of information derived from this database may subject the User or the User's agency to criminal or civil penalties imposed under 18 U.S.C. §§ 2723-2724.
